At Your Way ABA, our goal is to provide families with individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy by planning with the client and their family directly, focusing on the family’s priorities, and collaborating with all individuals involved in care. This allows us to provide effective therapy in which the family notices the benefits.
ABA therapy uses scientifically proven principles of learning and motivation to effectively teach new skills and reduce interfering behaviors. To teach skills, reinforcement and prompting procedures will be used. To decrease interfering behaviors, staff will assess what occurs before, during, and after an interfering behavior. Then, they will develop an intervention, based upon their findings, that will result in a decrease in the targeted behavior.
Each child’s treatment plan will be designed specifically for them and will be individualized to meet their needs. During the initial assessment, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will interview the child’s parents, complete questionnaires, observe the child, play, and probe skills with the child. They will use all of the information gathered to develop the child’s treatment plan- the goals and programs that they will be targeting during ABA sessions and their plan for helping the child meet those goals. An emphasis will be placed on skills that will be most beneficial for the child and family’s daily life.
In order to produce the best outcome, all individuals that are involved in the child’s care should be involved in therapy. Caregiver training will take place with the client’s family members. This will ensure that teaching strategies used during ABA sessions can continue to be used outside of session time as well. In addition, collaboration can occur with other service providers such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, feeding therapists, teachers, as well as any physicians involved in the child’s care. Communication and a team approach are key to success.
Sessions may take place in the home, school, daycare, and community settings or a combination those settings based on where support is most needed.
At Your Way ABA, we put you first. We strive to improve the quality of life for individuals diagnosed with autism by embracing their strengths and providing support where needed. We aim to empower all by providing the tools necessary to grown and learn as well as feel independent and successful. We want the children that we work with to thrive and happy in their natural environment and we want their parents to feel empowered and knowledgeable about how to set their child up for success.
